If you’re planning an upcoming camping trip, we strongly recommend checking out our article on RV safety accessories. Because you never know when an emergency will arise, it’s important to pack for a worst-case scenario to ensure your safety and the safety of your passengers. For a list of important accessories you’ll want with you at all times, check out our list below.

Tire Pressure

A camper is very heavy, which means that a blown-out tire can have hazardous implications when driving at highway speeds. This is why you need to keep an eye on your tire pressure at all times, which is easiest to achieve with a tire pressure monitoring system. If you don’t want to pay to have one of these installed, you can also bring a simple tire pressure gauge with you, so long as you check every tire before you leave and every couple of hours throughout the trip.

Water Pressure Regulator

Water can be tricky because some RV parks might have extremely high water pressure that you’re not used to. This can make showers and simple tasks at the sink more difficult, and can also cause your plumbing to burst if the pressure’s too much for the pipes to handle. This type of damage can be expensive to repair and makes camping trips downright intolerable, so we recommend having a water pressure regulator installed. This will regulate the water so only the appropriate amount of pressure comes through, making life easier and protecting your plumbing in the process.

First Aid Kit

If you’re the type of person who works an office job in the city, it probably shouldn’t come as a surprise that moving to the camping lifestyle—which involves doing everything with your hands—can lead to you hurting yourself. Just about everyone who has ever gone camping has cut themselves with a pocket knife or gotten stung by a mysterious bug. A well-stocked first aid kit will help you deal with whatever the wilderness throws at you. This should include bandages, gauze, basic medicines like ibuprofen and antidiuretics, ice packs, and any specialty medications that you and your family take.
